NORM ROASTS THE SAGET

Comedy Central's Roast for Bob Saget to Air, Sunday August 17, 2008

Norm gave his buddy Bob Saget a real roasting recently when Bob agreed to be roasted by Comedy Central. The roasters included Jon Lovitz, Gilbert Godfreid, John Stamos and the rest of the Full House cast. I'm sure Norm had some dirty shit on Bob so this will be exciting TV. Stay tuned!

BACK TO NORM
WE ARE BACK:
Here is a few developments:

Norm is scheduled for the Tonight Show after more than two years. Thanks to a tip from Tom Thornton, he has informed us that Norm will be chatting up with Jay on Monday, April 21. Poor Norm, he’s going to have to endure the shrilling of Ashley Simpson. Lord..let’s pray for Norm’s soul.

Norm is also slated to appear in a David Spade movie called Hollywood and Vine. It’s being penned and produced by the Farley family (with whom Norm has been loyal to). It’s slated for sometime in 2009. It will also star that asshole, Chris Kattan. Just for that alone, I won't see the movie. I can't stand him. LOL!

Houston is ready for Norm. He’s slated to do a series of shows at the Houston Improv from May 1st through the 4th. The website for tickets is www.improvhouston.com.

Norm was recently seen roasting Mel Brooks in Los Angles recently. Here are some small pictures of the event.

ALL I WANT FOR XMAS IS TWO

TICKETS FOR NORM'S UPCOMING GIG AT THE HOUSE OF BLUES

Norm is slated for a stand up show at the House of Blues at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 9 PM. Tickets for the show go on sale on January 4, 2008 at the HOB website. I'm actually surprised this show was booked so early during the year, for the past several years now, Norm does this show on Father's Day Weekend. Not sure if I'll make it out West in a few weeks, but those traveling in the area, should check out the show. You can buy your tickets at Ticketmaster or Link to the ticket sales can be reached here.

NORM STOPS BY FREE FM
SANS THE CAROLLA

Norm recently dropped by The Adam Carolla Show to fuck the dog, ha! Seriously, he was there to hang and give out some awards. Here is Norm with some of the folks at the radio station. Adam was out sick that day, but you will enjoy Danny Bonaduce who used to co-host the show with Adam. Hey, maybe it's time that Norm filled that spot!
Hear the clip here.

A "FAKE" NORM DELIVERS THE FAKE NEWS ON NEW ONLINE SHOW ON TBS' SUPER DELUXE --FOR REAL!

UPDATED NOVEMBER 18 -- The Fake News made its premiere. The numbers of views are growing as the clips come in. Bestweekever.tv showcased the clip on the Bloggers Networks which helped bump up the n
umbers. Two shows have since premiered since we reported on November 11th. Let's continue to show Norm our support. Initially a skeptic, the segments are growing on me.

We will bring you the weekly clips on our forum. Please visit us there.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, TBS' Super Deluxe comedy broadband channel is adding a show from Norm MacDonald
in which he will reprise his "Saturday Night Live" role as a satirical newsman.  Norm will write for and voice a CGI anchor for
"Norm MacDonald presents The Fake News," debuting Wednesday, November 14.

Super Deluxe, which launched earlier in the year and also features content from Bob Odenkirk and Dave Foley. Although I'm not a huge fan of fake animated characters, I think this idea is a "hoot". Norm gets to be unfiltered, and at the same time, bypass that whole issue of who owns the Weekend Update on SNL. Let's give Norm our support and tune in on Wednesday.

NORM SUPPORTS THE STRIKING WRITERS!

Norm has come out today to support the writers who have hit the streets today on both coasts who have gone on strike. Norm is seen in the following clip explaining his rationale on why he's out there. You can see the clip here.  I'm glad Norm is up to something, even though I have a feeling Norm was really going out for coffee and was curious about the crowd and got caught on tape.

On other news, a writer who is penning a book on Howard Stern is looking to talk to Norm. We've directed him towards Norm and hopes he gets included in the book.

HAPPY 44TH B-Day NORM!
October 17th

BEST REGARDS, WWW.NORM-MACDONALD.NET
Exactly 44 years ago (or perhaps 45 or 46 years, according to other accounts) Fern Macdonald pushed Norm into this world. And the world thanks her, then again, that's just my opinion. Momma Fern and Poppa Percy must have had their share of headaches with Norm. He was a hellraiser -- drinking, smoking and dropping out of school at a young age -- Percy must have taken the belt to him plenty of times.
God bless you Momma Fern for your patience. 1 bad seed out of three ain't bad.

Earlier this month, Norm recently performed at the fundraiser at the Ice House in Pasadena. That's where these photos were taken. My other favorite comic, Paula Poundstone also was there. I recently caught Paula at the Ridgefield Playhouse in CT.  She was actually pretty good. She's like a female version of Norm. That's why I'm glad to have this photo. We wish Norm well as he celebrates the big 44. Sam Simon will most likely take him out for his birthday, get him stinking drunk and most likely pay for him to laid or something. He can afford it -- the man made a fortune on The Simpsons. If he was a true friend, he'd drop the 100K Norm owes him on a bet (see Tom Green clip for explanation).  Share the wealth with Norm, you filthy rich bastard!

Note to Norm: Glad you are looking healthy. We, well, mostly me, began to worry about you, Norm. Stories about you looking like Kenny Rogers hobo was beginning to frighten me.  Enjoy your day blue eyes! Gigohead.

HOW TO PICK UP GIRLS--
NORM PROJECT GREENLIGHTED

Norm may have picked up a few male fans in this photo, but he and Frank Sebastiano are counting on "How to Pick Up Girls" for their next big screen hit. Hollywood.com is reporting that Norm and Frank (co-writer of Dirty Work) are pairing up for the screenplay. The site is reporting that New Line Records studio is picking up the project and has named Andreas Pinter as the Executive Producer with the Todd sisters as producers (Austin Power films). No release date nor filming date has been announced. Hey..its something. I'm not sure how reliable Hollywood.com is. They still have Norm listed as appearing in the upcoming Meg Ryan movie, which Norm is not in. Keep posted.  Damn, where are the eyes on the dude on the left?

NORM GOES FROM GREEN TO
"RED HOT"

Some really great news to report also. The New York Times is going to be doing a big story on Tomgreen.com! According to Tom's blog, the New York Times reporter will be coming up to the show Wednesday night, July 25 at 11:00 PM EST. to hang out for the Norm Macdonald show. Tom is excited because, "This should be an exciting development for the channel, and will hopefully continue pushing us forward." How exciting for Norm too! I'd love him to get a mention in the article -- that's GOLDEN!! You can't buy that amount of publicity. Good for Tom and well...good for Norm too. Check out the interview on www.tomgreen.com

NORM RE-STEPS INTO
ADAM'S CAROLLA

Norm revisits Adam Carolla's show to help promote his 4-day gig at the Improv. He shares his infinate wisdom on sexual pedophiles with Adam and Theresa Strasser. Norm seems to spend a lot of time talking about sexual predators.  To hear the interview, click here.  Norm gets to chat it up with a gal looking to score a job at Adam's show.  Norm discloses that he's still a Canadian citizen still but loves America more, but he can't seem to pass the citizen's test.  Perhaps if the answers where on playing card, Norm would pass like flying colors. Norm discloses his poker jones in the interview. In fact, he stays up late playing poker and perhaps checking us out as well. Ron Jeremy was also a guest that day. Not sure if Norm hung around to hear about his big cock. I'm sure Norm shooted out of there. Norm knows better. No real man wants to hear about another dude's big cock. Penis envy exists if you know what I mean.

NORM-ON-THE ROAD

Comedy Lovers need to say "Hello" to
Michael Gelbart

Change in plans folks....Norm was set for 4 shows at the Improv in Tempe, Arizona starting  July 5 to the 8th -- that has now changed to August 2nd to August 8th.  Tickets range from modest $25 to $27. Here is the link to grab your tickets.

Norm is also doing the Cobbs Comedy Club in San Francisco. That's slated for July 12 through the 15. Tickets can be purchased on this site. Then, Norm heads to La Brea for 3 days starting July 19 to 22nd at the Improv.

One person in particular getting lots of attention is Michael Gelbart. He's gotten  some rave reviews in particular during his opening gig for Norm at the Irvine Improv in early June. I've had a few folks email me about him.  Michael is definitely a talented comic and worth seeing.  Michael is opening up for Norm in San Francisco, La Brea and Phoenix. In fact, Michael has his own CD titled, "Hello Comedy Lovers". He's got his own site as well, check him out

AS THE CARDS SHUFFLES.
NORM'S WSOP DAYS IN PICTURES

I had a great time last year documenting Norm's rise and fall at last year's WSOP. Well, the time has come to do my yearly Norm round up again.

Above, the stacks are high on this day. Norm is color coordinated -- a change from previous years. He's obviously playing today courtesy of Pokerstars.net hence the t-shirt. Norm's strategy this year: Bushy beard and chin hides "poker mouth" .

Hmm..the stacks are decreasing but Norm's wardrobe is expanding...I bet Norm woke up that morning, saying "Hey! Hey Hey! This cheesy, touristy, Las Vegas t-shirt may decrease my chances of with the ladies, but boy, I have a theme working for me here...the star matches my cap!! Hey..Whatever works Norm.

What can I really say here..Norm posed especially for me. Love Norm's "Putter your lips like this and kiss my straight-flush ass...you filthy son-of-a-bitch!!" pose. Another caption: "Marc Gurvitz (Norm's agent), kiss my ass, I'm not doing Temple, AZ this weekend.-- I'm rich beeyotch" Good going Norm -- you look like a winner of a sour pickle this year. Glad you maintain your sense of comedy as your chip count dwindle and fans in AZ wait fume as you "reschedule" your shows.

NORM HOLDS THEM AND FOLDS THEM
AS HE CHANNELS THE SPIRIT OF
KENNY ROGER'S THE GAMBLER

Norm landed his first WSOP cash, finishing in 20th for $14,608. Norm's winning streak ended when he lost a race with (5-Spades)(5-Clubs) to Ed Moncada's (J-Clubs)(10-Clubs), with the board delivering (10-Diamonds)(6-Diamonds)(4-Hearts)(6-Spades)(2-Diamonds).

Norm, this is for you babe -- To celebrate your win and your new Kenny Rogers look.

The Gambler – Kenny Rogers

On a warm summer's evenin' on a train bound for nowhere,
I met up with the gambler; we were both too tired to sleep.
So we took turns a starin' out the window at the darkness
'Til boredom overtook us, and he began to speak.

He said, "Son, I've made my life out of readin' people's faces,
And knowin' what their cards were by the way they held their eyes.
so if you don't mind my sayin', I can see you're out of aces.
For a taste of your whiskey I'll give you some advice."

So I handed him my bottle and he drank down my last swallow.
Then he bummed a cigarette and asked me for a light.
And the night got deathly quiet, and his face lost all expression.
Said, "If you're gonna play the game, boy, ya gotta learn to play it right.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

Ev'ry gambler knows that the secret to survivin'
Is knowin' what to throw away and knowing what to keep.
'Cause ev'ry hand's a winner and ev'ry hand's a loser,
And the best that you can hope for is to die in your sleep."

When he'd finished speakin', he turned back towards the window,
Crushed out his cigarette and faded off to sleep.
And somewhere in the darkness the gambler, he broke even.
But in his final words I found an ace that I could keep.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

WELCOME NORM FANS!

Welcome folks!
Yep! That's me with Norm

What sort of started as a news page has now become a full blown Norm Macdonald fan page. We are in the process of moving all the files along with the domain from the Norm-macdonald.com site over to this one  and we will soon transition to the new site. We've got the photo album up and running and will slowly get all, if any photos of Norm throughout his career, with fans, or just being Norm.  Woo! The pressure is tough to come up with a better site, but the point really is not to be better. It's merely a stop over for fans -- or those who want a better appreciation of him. Heck, we welcome those who dislike him as well. We offer good humor on our forum and a few chuckles at Norm's expense -- that's the way he wants it.

Best regards,

THE POKER JOKER STRIKES AGAIN!!
MONITOR HIS GAMBLING VIA THE WEB

Let's face it.. our hero loves his chips. So don't even think about an intervention for Norm. He's out to play and play big. As he has said in the past, he can blow his money gambling because "it's not like I earned it scrubbing toilets!". You can monitor Norm's winning/losing streak in this year's World Poker Tour 2007. Norm has been spotted gambling at the Amazon Room at the Rio's with the likes of Jennifer Tilly and once-hot Shannon Elizabeth. Check out how Norm's doing at Pokernews.com

Great Balls of Fire!!!
Two Thumbs Up for Norm's "Ballsy" Performance on My Name is Earl

Norm bought much needed comic relief to My Name is Earl. The episode called "Two Balls, Two Strikes" has Norm playing "Little Chubby," the son of "Big Chubby," a distasteful businessman in Earl's hometown  portrayed by the wonderful Burt Reynolds. Well, it so happens, that Big Chubby has dropped dead (most likely Burt's not renewing the role) and well..and the writers, brilliant guys as they are turned to the most logical choice to fit the role of the heir of the Big Chubby dynasty, Norm Macdonald. TVFodder.com's Randy has posted the best review of the show. No one else can do it much justice, so we are providing the link here. The full episdode can be seen on NBC's My Name is Earl page.

"I Don't Love the 90's"
Norm Can't Stop Talking about his
"Hey Days" at SNL

Saturday Night Live, is like the Anna Nicole Smith story: it never seems to die. According to an NBC press release: Continuing to tell the story of "Saturday Night Live," NBC presents a new installment of the compelling behind-the-scenes documentary series chronicling the highs and lows of the iconic comedy show -- "Saturday Night Live in the '90s: Pop Culture Nation" on Sunday, May 6, 9:00 - 11:00 p.m. ET. Norm is slated to make an appearance yapping about his years at SNL. The press release states: The stories take the show all over the map from the early nineties with one of its strongest (and largest) casts in history and the phenomenonal success of "Wayne's World" on the big screen to bitter clashes with the network culminating in the firing of the anchor of "Weekend Update." Not sure how Norm finds time in his busy schedule to do these interviews.  I'm not even sure if SNL was so "iconic" back in the 90's. I have very little recollections of anything that made it "pop culture". Jury still out if this is a most-see or a must-pass-for-Desperate Housewives. Now..if Norm is found to be the father of Anna's baby..that's one hell of a story!!!

The No-Joke Poker Joker--
New Article Details Norm's
Gambling Jones

A few years ago, Bluff Magazine's editor Eric Morris had reached out to Norm-Macdonald.com looking for contact information on Norm for a possible profile on the funny man. In fact, I helped a freelancer friend of mine try to get the assignment, but Norm's folks turned her down. Several years later, Michael Kaplan (who also writes for Playboy) got the coveted assignment for the April 2007 issue. In fact, Norm's opening act, Brandon Muller alerted this to us last year on our forum.  The article, "Norm Macdonald's Big Gamble" is quite riveting. It details the perils of a man with a bad gambling jones. The article unveils some early information on Norm. At the age of 8, Norm had read the book, Beat the Dealer, and learned to count cards. As a boy in rural Canada, he played a lot of cards and in fact, Norm can quickly sort through a deck of cards and tell you which one you selected. Holy Cow Norm!  Norm's gambling habit started when he came to Los Angeles and has remained with him since.  You can tell his addiction to cards and sports gambling has progressed over the years.

The article is not bad, but I was quite disappointed with how it turned out. I happen to subscribe to this magazine and I thought Kaplan portrayed Norm a little too dark compared to other "pure fluff" celebrity profiles in previous issues.  The pictures are dated too. The first picture is over three years old taken at another club, not the House of Blues and the second is over two years old. Come on Eric, you cheap bastard, Norm deserved a photo shoot.  But when you think it's over for the Poker Joker. Think again.  A win may be in the cards for Norm after all. Check out www.bluffmagazine.com. Pick up a issue at the newsstand.

Too Bad..So Sad..
But it's a Free Download!

Normnews.com has found a nice treat. Its a free download of the great little song by the great Canadian band, Doug and the Slugs. It's a great little infectious ditty of a song. It's a classic!! Hard to believe the song is 27 years old!!  Please click HERE to go to the Art Decade blog and then click on the title of the song. The MP3 file will automatically download on your desktop. I then transferred the song over to my Ipod.

The Native Son Goes Home:
New Stand Up Show Announced

Oui! Oui! Oui!  Is what most French-Canadians are saying. Hard core Canadian fan, Ross Brew has his ticket to Norm!  Norm is back in Vancouver to perform on Saturday, May 5th at the Red Robinson Show Theatre at the Boulevard Casion located in Coquitlam, BC. The casino features a fancy French theme. Norm may feel like a fish out of water among the French, but I feel he has learned the universal language of Poker.  Tickets range $48.50 - $58.50 Canadian. Tickets can be purchased through ticketmaster. You can check out the casino for yourself here.

The Poker Joker

Norm may have not worked the red carpet at the Oscars, but he did walk down the other red carpet, the one rolled out on March 3rd at the Commerce Casino for the 5th Annual World Poker Tour (WPT) Invitational. Each year, the exclusive, invitation-only event welcomes famous Hollywood faces and world-class poker professionals who go head-to-head in a free roll Texas Hold Em poker tournament for charity, cash prizes, and "eternal bragging rights." Not sure what Norm has bragged to Poker Pro, Evelyn Ng in the photo below. Perhaps he's bragging about the huge size of his "headphones". Evelyn looks thrilled.

Son-of-A-Burt:
Norm to Reprise his Vintage

"Burt Reynolds"
in Upcoming Episode of "My Name is Earl"

UPDATE: EPISODE TO AIR, THURSDAY, APRIL 19 AT 8 PM

Buck, probably the hardest working extra working in Hollywood today, has been hired to work on "My Name Is Earl," which is currently being filmed on a cold hilltop in Ventura County. According to Buck's Livejournal entry, he will appear in an upcoming episode with several celebrities including Norm Macdonald, who according to Buck is reprising his classic Burt Reynold's vintage impression and parlaying into a guest spot as Burt Reynold's "son":, and wearing an appropriately hideous hair-helmet toupee to boot.

According to Buck, the plot goes as follows: Burt Reynolds ("Big Chubby") runs just about everything in Camden County with an iron hand, from Chubby's Pulled Pork BBQ Restaurants to Chubby's Gym to the Chubby Hazmat Team. Now he's died, and his son Li'l Chubby (Norm MacDonald) is taking over the family empire. Buck played one of about forty employees of the Chubby family of companies, all unwilling attendees at Big Chubby's funeral. The premise of his appearance is that all the employees are being forced to attend over their lunch hour, so most everyone is shown eating takeout food during the service. Then later, the "employees" all seen around the pool at an Employee Appreciation Day barbecue being thrown by Li'l Chubby, and everyone is much happier. Buck gets to play an employee at Chubby's dry cleaning business.

Thanks Buck for sharing your recently entry with Normnews.com. You can catch his Livejournal page here and catch his photo so you'll spot him in the episode. His LiveJournal is an interesting read on the day-to-day life of an working actor.

Norm is "Fucking the Dog" with Tom Green
Norm Shares Common Canadian Expression

Animal lovers don't fret. The term in Canada means "cutting school or taking the day off". As is "What are you doing today? I'm just fucking the dog" So a Canadian on leisure would be called a "Fucking-the-dog" Canadian? WTF? What will they think of next!! Norm did a two-show stint on Tom Green's "web-o-vision" show.  Clips can be seen on Tom's archives pages and the show itself can be downloaded or embedded into blogs.

The best moment had to be when Norm and Sam Simon hung out with Tom during a February 9 airing in where Tom hosted a "party" with some of his favorite guests (or quite simply, folks who just showed up).  All three started to talk about Jimmy Stewart and his dead dog, Beau. Tom commented how well Norm's impressions were and suggested that he imitate a few celebrities including Lance Bass from N'Sync. Without missing a beat...Norm performed one of the best impression the post-outed teen-band member.  Norm's impression of Lance's performing on a "male anatomy" is a classic!!! Check it out for yourself on www.tomgreen.com.

Chance Meeting with Norm:
11-Years in the Making

Original Yahoo Chatter Man, Sam, (nee "Philhartmanrip")
Gets Rewarded with Free Show at Ridgefield Playhouse

Now this is an honor for Normnews. We were recently contacted by the young man who moderated the original chats on Norm in the late 90's. Sam, nee  Philhartmanrip, dominated the Yahoo chats during the Norm's SNL days and Norm Show days. Sam's devotion was rewarded recently with a chance meeting with Norm and two tickets to see him perform at the Ridgefield Playhouse. Sam was kind to share this encounter to Normnews. Thanks Sam - Gigohead

I
wanted to send you my Norm meeting story for Normnews.com. I've been one of Norm's biggest fans for 11 years and getting to meet him at the Ridgefield Playhouse was such a thrill- he's one of the nicest guys I've ever met. I got to talk to him at the Daily Show last September, he's so cool and I never thought I'd get a chance to actually be face to face with my hero.

I arrived at the theatre a few hours before the show started and waited for him to come in. After a little while, I saw a car drive by with a familiar face in the passenger seat. "That's him!" I told my mom.I approached him and took a deep breath. I made sure I wasn't going to freeze and/or make too big an ass out of myself. Norm got out of the car and I said, "Norm?"

He turned around and I said, "Hi, I'm Sam I talked to you at the Daily Show." Norm remembered me and said, "Hey Sam." He was a bit confused as to why I was in Connecticut (he thought I lived in Canada), but I did my best to explain it to him. I don't think he ever understood, but it was okay. We talked for a few minutes, and I explained to him how I had met a lot of his friends and influences, but never him and I told him how I had wanted to meet him for 11 years. The whole time he was very cool, and I think he understood how this was a huge moment for me, and seemed very happy to talk to me.

He signed my Dirty Work DVD, VHS and his CD. I didn't mean to make him sign three things, but when I went to go meet him, I just instinctively grabbed all three of my Norm items. He didn't mind and we started joking about Dirty Work. I then asked for a picture with him and he said, "Sure." While we were talking, my mom noticed that the picture came out really dark so she asked if we could take it closer to some light. Norm didn't have a problem with this, so we took it again. It still came out pretty dark, but I have a picture with Norm, which is awesome.

Norm asked me if I had tickets to his show and I took a flyer and asked if he could hook me up. He goes, "Yes, of course," and I went backstage with him where he told someone that me and my mom were family (!) and could they give us some tickets. While there, I joked around with Norm and we talked about The Norm Show and I told him about his fanbase and how every episode of Stan Hooper and Norm is available online. He was impressed. I let him go, and thanked him profusely for the tickets.

I couldn't believe it- Norm was nicer then I ever imagined. It was FREEZING outside, yet he took time out to talk to me and to take a picture. He was generally a good guy. Before he gave me the tickets, he asked my mom if she had any plans and made sure she wanted to go too. He was just a real class act, and I really appreciated him taking the time to talk to one of his biggest fans.

The show itself was funny, and I was impressed with Norm's ability to improvise so much of his material. He really is a comic genius. A heckler seemed to throw  off him a bit, but other then that, he was fine. After the show I went backstage to see Norm again. I shook his hand and profusely thanked him again for the tickets. We talked for a few more seconds and that was it. My Night of Norm was over. He even asked me if my mom was offended by his R-rated material. He's just  that awesome.

I didn't know Norm Macdonald could be anymore awesome, but somehow he was. I've been a fan of this guy for so long, and to know that he cares about his fans is a great feeling. But on February 3rd, an 11-year journey of mine had ended, and it managed to pay off in ways I never thought possible. Because Norm Macdonald is so fucking cool.

To Norm Macdonald:

Thank you for standing outside when it was colder then a vampire's pussy out there.

Sam

"A.D.D." Norm to the "Listi" of
Readers of  Compelling Paperback

Novelist Brad Listi shares his encounter with Normnews.com

Brad Listi was recently signing copies of his best selling book, Attention, Deficit, Disorder (Simon Spotlight Entertainment, now on paperback), at the Barnes & Noble in LA on February 7. According to Listi "and all of a sudden I hear this guy standing next to me, and his voice is kind of familiar. He's talking to a bookstore employee, asking if the paintings on the wall are for sale. I look up, and the guy is pointing to a painting of Of Mice & Menon the wall. A silkscreen. "Do you guys sell those things?" he says. The B&N staff members were looking at each other in a state of silent confusion. "Ummm," one of them finally said. "Sometimes we give them away when we take them down." "I want to buy one," the guy said. And then my fiancee looks at the guy and says, "You know what? You should buy my fiance's book. He's standing right here signing them. It just came out in paperback." And the guy says, "Really?" And it occurs to me that he seems really stoned.

A really friendly, really smiley guy. "No way!" he says, looking at me. "For real?" And I say, "Yeah. For real." And two of his friends are standing there, a guy and a girl. And the guy friend says, "Listi...hmmm....I think I've heard of you before.  And I say, "Really?"And my fiancee says, "Listi means thief in a strange Mediterranean dialect."And the guy friend says, "Really?" And I say, "I'm pretty sure." And then the girl says, "How long did it take you to write the book?" And I gave her the standard explanation of how it took me about six months to write the manuscript, but to say six months is kind of misleading, because in reality it took me several years and many unsuccessful attempts before I was able to write the manuscript in six months, and so on. And then the girl says, "How much time went by in between when you finished the manuscript and when it got published?"

"About a year," I said. "It generally takes a year between acquisition and publication." The girl nodded. Then the first guy, the original guy, he said, "Jim Carroll gave you a blurb. He read it?" And I said, "Yeah. Jim Carroll read an advanced copy when it first came out." "That's awesome," the guy said. "I'm totally buying one." "Yay!" my fiancee said. "Will you sign it for me?" the guy said. "Fuck yeah I'll sign it," I said. "What's your name?" "Norm" the guy said. "Thanks, Norm," I said. And then I signed his book. And then I handed it to him, and I shook his hand and thanked him again. And then my fiancee and I waved goodbye to everyone, and we thanked the bookstore people again, and then we walked away and got on the escalator and made our way down to the ground floor.

"That was nice," I said. "That guy seemed totally familiar." "You don't know who that is?" my fiancee said. "He looks familiar," I said. It was Norm Macdonald, the comedian, formerly of Saturday Night Live.I totally know who he is. I just couldn't place him last night. At any rate, he seemed extraordinarily baked. And he couldn't have been nicer or more generous. And he was trying to buy a painting off the wall in a Barnes & Noble. Turns out he could have. In fact, that B&N employee lost the company a $600 sale!!

Listi's novel focuses on a character named Wayne Fencer who has come to San Francisco to attend the funeral of an ex-girlfriend who committed suicide. When he learns that she aborted their unborn child, he embarks on a search for meaning through some of the most influential events of the past ten years. Baby, was is it cold outside!! Norm compared the cold weather a "vampire's pussy".  But folks those who packed into the Ridgefield Playhouse on Saturday, February 3rd were looking for the "Man on Fire" Norm Macdonald to bring some warmth back into their souls. Opening the show was Neil Headley (pictured above), a Canadian comedian who used to do the stand up circuit in Canada along with Norm. In fact, Neil recalled the time when he was part of a showcase with Norm at the famed comedy club, Yuk-Yuk's. Neil's set had bombed badly according to him and Norm followed him and aced it.  He was asked by the talent scouts for David Lettermnan's NBC show to appear on the program. Norm has always valued his friendship with Neal, and has asked him to open for him after he interviewed Norm recently on the "I-95 Morning show" . Neil was quite warm and friendly and did a great job of pumping up the audience with a parody song he created. He's now the host of his own radio show in WRKI- Home of Rock and Roll in Connecticut. Good going Neil. You can read about Neil and see a picture of him with hair on his page.  Hair or shaved, Neil's a hunk.

The show itself had several surprising moments. Norm was recalling how he was afraid  of heart attacks. All of the sudden, a small wail came from the audience. Turns out a couple with 8 kids had brought their 6-month-old baby to the show ("Babysitting must be so expensive, joked Norm). But Norm was game and he managed to get a lot of laughs from the incident and even entertained the baby by shaking some keys on stage. He had a lot of funny jokes about being a father which most folks can relate.

Things started to turn ugly when some hecklers started to interupt Norm as he started to uncoil a yarn about his dead father. Norm's no Michael Richards, he kept his cool and managed to turn the tables on the guys with comical effect. However, the guys got obscene and they were wrestled away by four volunteer firefighters who paid top dollars to watch the show. The heckler later told the www.norm-macdonald.com forum that he and his buddies do it all the time and in fact, other comics have appreciated it..Yeah..right.

Norm disclosed to Neil that he is in the works to guest star on "My Name is Earl". Michael Pennie, the executive producer has backed this information recently and the script is currently in the works. Without disclosing Norm's final joke that evening, Norm does have a knack for playing it up and has mastered a soft southern  "redneck" drawl. I think he will do just fine.

On a personal front, I got to meet Norm backstage before the show. Makes this worthwhile, because he's very appreciative. down-to-earth and warm. With temps way below 0 degrees that night, any little bit of warmth, helped -- trust me.

Reads: "To Gigohead, Thanks for all your work, love Norm Macdonald". You are certainly welcome, big guy.
